The team members are Mr. & Mrs.
Jon
& Hilde Ertnes from Svinndal in Østfold,
Norway. We`re both members of Østfold Modellbåtklubb,
with about 30 members who are more or less active in
RC-boat racing.
Jon has a long history with models,
and he has crashed several RC airplanes during his "carreer".
The same can be said about Hilde, without saying much
more about that.... (Let`s just say "Jon had
an airplane"...*lol*). Jon started racing early
in 2007.

Hilde likes speed and everything that`s
fun. And of course she has her own race boat. This is
a Donzi 38 ZR from the american company Aeromarine Laminates. During
the late summer of 2007 she took part in her first race
with her own boat in the Zenoah Offshore-class, and
did well. This girl defenatly has what it takes in this
sport mostly dominated by men
.
Jon og Hilde "coaches" for eachother
and work very well together. A "coach" is
about the same as a co-driver, and in our sport the
"coach" keeps the driver updated on whats
going on around the track; as slow boats, boats that
has stopped, and everything else the driver needs to
know to not collide with other boats. The reason for
using this "coach" is that this sport is extremely
fast, and the driver has more than enough work to control
his own boat. And belive me; there`s a lot of drama
going on when 10 of these boats are at the track competing
at the same time!!!

Jon`s first boat is a Sonic, designed
& molded by Mr. Leif Rasmusse from Norway. This
boat is about 1,7 meters/67" from the bow to the
propeller. The engine is a Komatzu Zenoah 260 PUM "Zen7"
(26ccm) that runs on gas, tuned by Prestwick Model Boats (Dave Marles) in England.
The rudder and strutt is custom made by norwegian "Orbit
Norsk" in Moss. All electronic by Futaba, with
a 3PK transmitter and a 1024 PCM reciver. The best there
is to buy all the way! The boats name is of course "OFF
TOPIC".

Jon`s second boat is a Rico 48"
Offshore Classic, designed & molded by Rico Racing
(Richard Lindh), Florida, USA. This is also powerd by
a Komatzu Zenoah 260 PUM, but this engine is stock.
The tuned pipe is made by Jeroen. This is the only known
ex of this boat in Norway so far. All electronic by
Futaba, with a 3PK transmitter and a 1024 PCM reciver.
The best there is to buy all the way! The boats name
is....."OFF TOPIC TOO". ;-)

Hilde`s boat is a "scale-looking"
model of the famous Donzi 38 ZR, raced by the american
Donzi Marine-team. It`s designed & molded by Aeromarine
Laminates, USA. It`s powerd by a Komatzu
Zenoah 260 PUM "Zen7" (26ccm) that runs on
gas, tuned by Prestwick Model Boats (Dave Marles) in England.
Tuned pipe from Jeroen. All electronic by Futaba, with
a 3PK transmitter and a 1024 PCM reciver. The best there
is to buy all the way!

The above boats are the boats we`re
racing right now, but of course we have more projects
on going in our garage. Here you`ll see some pics of
some of them. These are models that will not be built
for racing, but more for the fun of making "close
to scale" race boats.

This one was very popular
as a RC race boat in Norway in the 80`s. Designed &
molded after the well known english offshore race boat
"Miss Embassy" from back in 1974. Hope to
get it finnished in a year or so.

This is also an older
norwegian design by Mr. Leif Rasmussen. Leif raced this
design back in the late 70`s, but he molded this hull
for my birthday last year as a present to me. It`s now
built as a "speed record boat" and I`ve started
to test it. And I can tell you one thing for sure, IT`S
FAST!!! More about this boat is coming soon!

This is my "pride"
at the moment! It`s also a Mr. Lief Rasmussen design,
and it`s molded by the man himself. Got it for my birthday
last year, from my wife. Will be powerd by a Komatzu
Zenoah, with MHZ "Mercruiser"-scale-looking
twin drives & gearbox. Also thinking of using scale
hydraulics for the steering, along with other untraditional
solutions, to get it as close as possible to the original.
The original boat was driven by monsiur Didier Pironi
from France; a former Formula 1 driver. We saw this
boat win the offshore race in Arendal back in August
1987. The next weekend the whole crew was killed in
an tragic accident in a race in the English channel.
Today the boat rests in a museum in France. More about
this build will come later on these sites.
Besides these projects,
we also have another Donzi, just like the one Hilde
races. This will be built with a CMB 91 RS nitro engine,
to compete in the Offshore 15ccm class. Hope to have
this one ready for the 2009 season.
